Basic Information
| Description: | Joyful Noise Gospel Singers (501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit) is an interfaith community choir dedicated to the upliftment of all through singing songs of the African-American tradition, including its roots in the music of Africa. We sing traditional songs from many countries in Africa, songs of slavery, spirituals and modern gospel. We welcome all who want to join their voices to ours...audition or note-reading is not required. All songs are also taught by rote. We offer several performances a season, but performing is not required. |

| Mission: | The Joyful Noise! Gospel Singers, Inc. is an interfaith gospel choir performing songs of faith and freedom forged in the fires of adversity. We are dedicated to social justice, multicultural education and Human Rights. |
| Emphasis: | Songs of the African-American tradition and the African diaspora...Gospel, spirituals, songs of slavery, traditional African folk songs and spirituals. Our concerts are usually benefits for various causes or worthy nonprofits, such as singing for diners at a free Thanksgiving meal or raising funds for earthquake relief in Haiti. |

| Skills Required : | Sing on pitch. Ability to read music is not required. |
| Auditions: | No formal audition. The director will listen to each participant at some point to be sure of section placement (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). Auditions for soloists. |
| Dues: | No dues, but freewill donation is gratefully accepted. All donations are tax deductible. |
| Payments to Singers: | Singers are not paid. |
| Dress: | Casual. Performance outfit is usually black pants or skirt and jewel-tone blouse or t-shirt topped with our choir stole of rainbow music notes sprinkled over a black background. |
