Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, special interest chorus, open to the general public after prior contact with the group's choral coordinator.

Year Estab: 1988
Mission: To provide musicians the opportunity to read the choral chamber music of J.S. Bach as an ensemble, with solo opportunities for singers and instrumentalists. In a typical session we read through a 'new' cantata after rereading the cantata introduced in the previous session.
Emphasis: The choral music of Bach, mainly the cantatas, sung with a chamber orchestra.
Size: 25-30
Concerts/Year: This is not a performing group; however, it gave 10th and 20th Anniversary concerts in 1998 and 2008.
Auditions: None currently
Dues: $5 per session; singers provide own scores
Rehearsals: One Sunday in each odd-numbered month, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., St. John's Episcopal Church, 1707 Gouldin Road, Oakland
