History: The Chamber Ensemble, founded in 1987, is the original choral ensemble of Cantare Con Vivo. It began as a choir of 24-singers, soon expanding to 40-singers in 1989. In 1999, when Cantare Con Vivo reorganized forming a symphonic chorale and a music outreach program for youth, the group was again reduced to 24-singers and renamed Cantare Chamber Ensemble. Today the Chamber Ensemble exemplifies the pinnacle of Cantare's highest standards of musicianship. They perform a stunning variety of sacred and secular choral works, a cappella or accompanied, covering the gamut of choral composition. (See: Repertoire) With over 500 choral compositions performed, they continue to seek out the latest offerings from a new breed of international composers in addition to widening their base on those identified musical geniuses of the past. The Chamber Ensemble has performed at the Western Division Regional Convention of the American Choral Directors Association and has released three CD recordings.
