Basic Information

Description: This is a volunteer educational chorus, open to the general public. Community members of the University Chorus must abide by the same rules as those enrolled in the Chorus as a course for credit.

Mission: To provide students and members of the greater campus community with the opportunity to sing concert repertory for large chorus in various styles and languages.
Emphasis: Extended works for chorus alone or for chorus and orchestra. All works performed in the original language (German, French, Latin, Church Slavic, Hebrew, etc.)
Size: 80-100
Concerts/Year: 6 (3-4 separate programs)
Auditions: Yes, at the Music Department, Morrison Hall, UC Campus, Berkeley. Auditions are held roughly during the last two weeks of August, second and third week of January. Auditions include performance of a prepared piece, ear-training tests, and sight-singing.
Dues: No
Dress: Varies. Generally concert black.
Rehearsals: Tuesday & Thursday, 4:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Hertz Hall, University of California, Berkeley. In addition to the Tuesday/Thursday rehearsals, singers are encouraged/required to attend a one-hour sectional once a week on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoon.
