Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, community, recreational, special interest men's chorus, open to the general public. (Mission Valley Sweet Adelines, an independent similar chorus for women, meets at the same time in the same facility.)

Mission: The preservation and encouragement of barbershop quartet singing.
Emphasis: The barbershop style; repertoire mostly Tin Pan Alley, but may include songs from more recent musicals, movies, and other sources.

Concerts/Year: 2 major chapter sponsored shows, plus numerous pub
Auditions: Yes, held at the Chapter meeting site upon demand. Auditions are mostly for voice evaluation and part placement. They consist of singing scales and perhaps a simple melody. The ability to hear and sing a pitch is required.
Dues: $114 per year
Dress: Formal (contest): white tuxedo, black pants, teal tie and cummerbund; Casual (travel): chorus golf or polo shirt, black pants.
Rehearsals: Tuesday, 7:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Cubberly Community Center, rm. 2, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto
