| Mission: | The Octet is an a cappella group comprosed of eight male Cal students singing a repertory that begins with traditional Cal songs and broadens to include the wealth of American popular music. Website: The UC Men's Octet is an eight member a cappella singing group comprised of students from the University of California at Berkeley . We have a wide repertoire , ranging from barbershop tunes and doo-wop to '80's pop and modern alternative. Every so often, you might even hear a group original. However, our main function since the group's founding in 1948 has been to spread Cal spirit, doing our best to entertain all with a unique mesh of close harmonies and nutty stage antics. |

| Comments: | The University of California Men's Octet is a Berkeley tradition currently in its 50th year on campus. The student-run group performs on campus, throughout the Bay Area, and around the world. The staple of repertoire is barbershop and early Rock 'n' Roll, in addition to songs in the Cal Tradition. We can be seen every Wednesday during the school year at 1:00 p.m. next to Sather Gate or at a party near you." |
