From website: The UC Men's Chorale is a 30+ member singing group dedicated to bringing the fine arts to the Cal community and beyond. Since its founding in 1885 (the oldest chorus in the West), the Men's Chorale has drawn members with a wide variety of backgrounds and musical experience.

Under the skillful direction of William Garcia Ganz, the Men's Chorale has, each semester, between twenty and seventy members. We sing a wide, wide variety of music. The selections regularly include classical, folks songs, spirituals, musicals and more, all drawn from different cultures. To top it off, we have a Cal song repertoire. Hear "Sons of California, " "The Big C " or "Hail to California " done in a TTBB arrangement.

Each year, the UC Men's Chorale performs publically several times. Usually, two formal concerts are scheduled a semester. In between, the we sing at specific events. (And we are out for hire!) Every year, the chorale performs the national anthem at professional sporting events. We've done the national anthem and Cal songs at various campus events, including a basketball game every year.

Other Information

History: The UC Men's Chorale was founded in 1885 as the University of California Glee Club. A notable past member (and later director) is Clinton R. "Brick " Morse, not only a highly-touted Cal athlete, but also the author of the songs "Hail to California " and "Sons of California. " Gaining international fame with worldwide tours, the UC Glee Club was an ever-present group of men spreading Cal spirit. In 1972, it merged with Treble Clef (now known as Women's Chorale) to form the Concert Choral. Recently, it has then reformed as the 30+ member Men's Chorale.
