Basic Information

Description: This is a selective volunteer chorus, open to the general public by audition.
Year Estab: 1940
Mission: To provide musical leadership for the liturgies of St. Mark's. This includes the performance of 2 major choral works a year, a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, and other special services.
Emphasis: A cappella repertoire, early English, 20th century American, English choral repertoire, Renaissance.

Concerts/Year: 40 (these include Sunday liturgies, September-June
Auditions: Yes, held throughout the year at St. Mark's, with emphasis on late August, early September, and January. Auditions include sight-reading, prepared pieces, and pitch memory.
Dues: No
Dress: The choir wears vestments provided by the church.
Rehearsals: Wednesday (excluding summer months), 7:30 p.m. to 10:00p.m., St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2300 Bancroft Way at Ellsworth, Berkeley

Discography: Valediction. Audiocassette. The group hopes to put out a CD within the next 3-5 years.
Comments: We als have a "Second-Sunday " organ recital series on the second Sunday of each month (excluding July-August)."
