| Mission: | To be a group of gay men who strive for excellence in the music we sing, and through our music, to maintain pride in ourselves and win the respect of others who do not share our orientation. From Press Release 11/11/03: The Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus is based in San Jose, California, and is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses, Inc. (GALA). SVGMC is a diverse group dedicated to achieving excellence in music and maintaining a high sense of personal and collective pride. Our mission is to promote fellowship within the Silicon Valley gay and lesbian communities and beyond, and through our music, gain the respect and esteem of all people. |

| Auditions: | Yes, held three times per year at the beginning of each rehearsal period; advertised in South Bay gay press and on Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus web page. Applicants are required to sing scales to determine their range and sing simple lines to demonstrate pitch-matching and harmonizing abilities. |
