Basic Information

Description: This chorus, open to the general public, is working towards becoming semi-professional. Music is often very difficult and demanding--intention is to keep masterworks " alive by "live " performance. Member must register for class at Junior College--fees vary. Can audit or take without credit. (Insurance is provided through the College.) "

Mission: To provide instruction in choral singing to qualified community members; to give public performances of choral masterworks; to promote and support public performance of all art forms.
Emphasis: Performance of "masterworks "--defined as works by renowned composers--short or long--a cappella or orchestrally accompanied--presented as close as possible to original production. Also "classical " new music by progressive composers.
Size: 50-65
Concerts/Year: Fall concert: 3 locations; Spring Concert: 3 loca
Auditions: Yes, held in Room 105, Forsyth Hall, Santa Rosa Junior College, during the Fall school season or by special arrangement at any time. No preparation is required; some sight reading, scales, and vocalizing; previous choral experience evaluated.
Dues: Fees vary, depending if the singer is registered f
Dress: Women: white/black top, black long skirts--NO PANTS, black hosiery and black shoes; Men: black tuxedos, suit, jacket or blazer; white shirt; black bowtie; black socks; black shoes; black pants.
Rehearsals: Monday, 7:00 p.m. to10:00 p.m., Santa Rosa Junior College, Room 105, Forsyth Hall, 1051 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa
