Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, community, non-sectarian children's chorus, open to the general public.
Year Estab: 1984
Mission: The Santa Rosa Children's Chorus was established to provide Sonoma county with a children's chorus of highest quality. Our members receive professional choral training, musicianship, and performance experience. They grow musically and socially as they learn and work together.
Emphasis: Classical in training concepts. Repertoire includes classical, folk, Americana, some popular, and contemporary literature.
Size: 32-35 in Concert Group
Concerts/Year: Approximately 25
Auditions: Yes, held in January, June, and September by appointment at the Presbyterian Church of the Roses. Auditioners are asked to prepare a simple song--usually sung a cappella in company of 4-6 other hopefuls. " They also must be able to match pitches, and show rhythmic and melodic capabilities. The trainer palys a scale and asks each to duplicate the rhythm, etc. "
Dues: Yes, $275 per semester for the concert group (rehe
Dress: Concert Group has winter and summer uniforms, custom designed and made. The Training Group and Intermediate Group girls wear nice dresses, white tights; boys wear white shirt, tie, leather shoes.
Rehearsals: Tuesday, Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Presbyterian Church of the Roses, Patio Court and Hahman Drive, Santa Rosa
