Mission: | The Symphony Chorus is part of the San Francisco Symphony family and enables the Symphony to perform the great choral works. |
Emphasis: | In addition to performing all types of symphonic choral music, the Symphony Chorus is featured in concerts of its own each year to sing smaller chamber works and a cappella repertoire. |

Concerts/Year: | 24 minimum |
Auditions: | Each singer must pass an audition in order to join the chorus, and choristers are re-auditioned each season to maintain the high standards set by the Chorus Director. Auditions are held in May or June. Volunteer singers must prepare one song in any language, and sightreading skills are tested. Professional singers must prepare 3 songs from memory of contrasting styles and languages, and take a written theory test. |

Dress: | Men: black-tie tuxedo, or black suit that looks like tuxedo; Women: long-sleeved black blouse and floor length black skirt or dress pants. |
Rehearsals: | Tuesday, plus occasional Monday, Wednesday and weekend rehearsals, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall, Franklin and Hayes Streets, San Francisco |

Comments: | The Symphony Chorus has performed in benefits for Musicare, Forever Young, and Coming Home Hospice. It appeared on stage with members of The Grateful Dead in the Symphony's 1996 American Music festival.
