Basic Information

Description: This is a community, special interest men's chorus, open to the general public.

Year Estab: 1978
Mission: The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus is committed to performing at the highest level of musical excellence, instilling pride and providing social support for the membership and serving as good will ambassadors for the gay community and the City of San Francisco.
Emphasis: Emphasis is on music written specifically for the male chorus (TTBB, usually). Our repertoire is extremely varied: from classical to pop, from a cappella to full orchestra.
Size: 243
Concerts/Year: 5 main concerts and 5-7 Outreach performances.
Auditions: Yes. Auditions are usually held in September and January. Auditions consist of vocaleses, pitch matching and sight-singing.
Dues: $10 per month
Dress: Varies, depending on the performance. All attire is available through the organization and special costume pieces are provided by the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.
Rehearsals: Monday, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Laguna Honda Hospital, Simon Auditorium, 375 Laguna Honda Boulevard, San Francisco
