Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, community, recreational chorus, open to the general public. The chorus is an activity of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

Mission: The San Francisco City Chorus is a community-based organization dedicated to providing Bay Area residents, choral music lovers, singers and audiences with satisfying and enjoyable musical experiences through concerts and educational efforts.
Emphasis: Classical; modern music of all nations; madrigals; small and large works; early Renaissance; Baroque; pops; jazz.
Size: 50-80
Concerts/Year: 3 concerts plus 10-15 Christmas caroling gigs
Auditions: Yes, call 765-7664 (SONG) for information and appointments. Auditions are held in August/September; December/January, March. Auditions require the ability to sustain tones against distracting tones; maintain good relative pitch; and read music.
Dues: $40 per concert cycle
Dress: Women: black floor-lengthskirts/pants, white blouses; Men: dark suits,white shirts
Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Cole Hall, UCSF Health Sciences West Bldg., 513 Parnassus, San Francisco
