History: Sacramento Gay Men's Chorus was founded in 1984. In 1990 we incorporated in the State of California and registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. We are also a grant recipient of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. The Sacramento Gay Men's Chorus is a proud member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses, Inc. (GALA). SGMC produces up to three major concerts a year, and performs throughout the year at events, public and private, in and around the Sacramento metropolitan area. In addition, SGMC has its own ensemble performance group "Entourage ", that represents SMC at venues too small for the entire chorus and other opportunities for outreach. Our season begins in the Fall/Winter and ends in the Spring/Summer. We have performed for the Sacramento Mayoral and California Gubernatorial inaugurations; numerous charity benefits (two with Judy Collins!) ; and have given our gift of music at memorials of those taken from us.
Comments: Will produce a CD in late 1999, and will participate in GALA 2000 in July, 2000"
