Mission: To build an appreciation of and audience for jazz vocal music; to promote respect for the cultural roots of jazz; to provide concerts that reflect the diversity of jazz; to offer a basis for community across racial, ethnic, and economic lines; to help members enhance vocal and choral skills and learn and perform jazz; to experience the joy of making music together.

Auditions: Yes, held sporadically as needed throughout the year. Candidate sings a prepared piece; learns a segment of a given tune and sings for the Director.
Dues: $25 per month
Dress: Varies with performance
Rehearsals: Wednesday, 7:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Berkeley Fellowship Hall, 1924 Cedar, Berkeley

Comments: The Oakland Jazz Choir sings traditional and contemporary jazz with original arrangements.
