Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, community, recreational chorus, open to the general public.

Mission: To promote education, outreach, and training in choral singing for adults and children of the community, and to be a gateway to other musical performance opportunities.
Emphasis: A wide range of choral music--classical, Broadway, opera, etc., a cappella or with instrumental accompaniment.

Concerts/Year: 2 concerts, 3 performances of each
Auditions: No. Not at present for the large chorus, but auditions are required for the small ensemles. They are held in Monterey, as announced--usually August and February. Candidates should prepare one solo piece.
Dues: $25 per year
Dress: Varies: black and whit; floor length skirts; ribbons, sashes, black pants; white, long sleeved
Christmas--jacket; spring more casual. Ensembe and consist, similarly cosumed.
Rehearsals: Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. to 9 or 10:00 p.m., At present, Canterbury Woods Community Center, 651 Sinex Avenue, Pacific Grove

Discography: No recordings made commercially. The choral Society concerts have been presented on local television and radio. Videotapes and cassette.

Comments: Performances have been held at the Carmel Mission and Sunset Center in Carmel, Sherwood Hall in Salinas; King Hall in Monterey, First Presbyterian Church in Monterey, First Methodist Church in Santa Cruz; King City High School Auditorium in King City, Convention Center, Monterey. Several concerts have been preserved with the Masters Society of Santa Cruz, presenting over 90 singers. Outstanding moments include First Day: New Year's Eve Day performances--ensembles and small "
