Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, community, recreational, special interest chorus, open to the general public.
Year Estab: 1926
Mission: Our purpose is to keep Yiddish language and Jewish Folk Music alive. We do this through concerts in the community several times a year. We see the Yiddish music and poetry as important parts of our cultural heritage and are determined to pass them on to future generations.
Emphasis: Yiddish folk songs; worker and labor songs; songs of peace, struggle; lullabies, resistance to the Holocaust songs. We also do a few Hebrew and Ladino songs representing our diversity as a people.
Size: 30-40 people
Concerts/Year: 7-10, often Sunday afternoons Annual concert, 2d S
Auditions: No.
Dues: $50 per year
Dress: Chorus t-shirts with black pants or long skirts (women can wear pants or skirt); or bright tops with black pants or skirt.
Rehearsals: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Congregation Beth Sholom, 14th Avenue at Clement (Friedman Center), San Francisco
