Basic Information

Description: This is a volunteer recreational, special interest chorus, open to the general public. Although we are primarily lesbian and gay, we welcome bisexuals, transgendered persons and heterosexuals.

Membership is open to anyone regardless of sexual orientation. In 2002, we changed our name from the Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Santa Cruz to Full Spectrum to acknowledge the diversity of our membership.

Mission: We, Full Spectrum: The Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Santa Cruz (LGCSC), are a community chorus promoting pride and celebrating our lives through music. We are a welcoming and high spirited Chorus committed to musical excellence and education, polished performances, strong relationships within the Chorus and the community at large, and financial health.
Emphasis: Music that speaks to the issues of acceptance of people who are different and equality for them, whether it is by lesbian and gay composers or others. We tend to do musical theatre pieces, pop tunes, jazz pieces, some a cappella pieces, some Renaissance, but very little clasical at this time.
Size: 25-45
Concerts/Year: 2 major concerts, 6-8 appearances " "
Auditions: All interested individuals are encouraged to schedule an informal audition with the Music Director to demonstrate an ability to match pitch and carry a tune and determine your voice part.
Dues: $25 per month.
Dress: Black pants or skirts as preferred, white shirts with collars and long sleeves, sequined suspenders.
Rehearsals: Tuesday (September-mid-June), 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Garfield Park Church, 111 Errett Circle, Santa Cruz

History: Formed in 1993, the Chorus has always been an active member of the Santa Cruz Community. It has traditionally performed at "A Gay Evening in May " (AGEM) and Santa Cruz Pride, as well as performances for World AIDS Day, Santa Cruz High School and various churches. This valued contribution to our community has been recognized by the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County with substantial grant monies over the years."
