Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur, community, special interest men's chorus, open to the general public.

Year Estab: 1956
Mission: To preserve and promote the four-part a cappella, close-harmony style of music known as barbershop.
Emphasis: Barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied vocal music characterized by consant four-part chords for every melody note. Occasional brief passages may be sung by fewer than four voice parts.
Size: 30
Concerts/Year: About 12-15 sing-outs and one main Fall show.
Auditions: Yes. the director voice tests prospective members for proper voice placement. Auditions are held after a minimum of 3 rehearsals. Auditions require the ability to carry a tune, i.e., the words and notes of a chosen piece.
Dues: Yes. Sliding scale: $9 to $83.
Dress: Formal: full tuxedo: white jacket with black striped trousers, red bowtie, handkerchief and cummerbund. Informal: teal blue golf shirts, black trousers and shoes.
Rehearsals: Tuesday, 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Seaside Salvation Army Center, 1491 Contra Costa, Seaside
