Basic Information

Description: This is a community, educational, multi-cultural and special interest chorus, open to the general public.

Year Estab: 1975
Mission: To explore, enjoy, and perform the choral and instrumental music of the peoples of Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, and also to establish this musical heritage as a familiar part of modern choral repertory.
Emphasis: Everything in the Hispanic and Latin-American choral and song tradition, embracing both art-music ('classical') and folk-music, both a cappella and instrumentally accompanied, from the 12th to the 20th centuries.
Size: 25-30 in Coro Hispano; 4-8 in Los Cantores del Cor
Concerts/Year: Three concert repertoires/series per year. At lea
Auditions: Yes, held b y appointment throughout the year. (Call (415) 864-4681.) Auditions include simple songs and vocalise patterns, used in a soso audition with a supportive director to determine range, timbre, pitch accuracy, voice production and reading ability. No song literature or accompanist needed.
Dues: $10 per season (trimestral)
Dress: 1) Formal: women: black dress with accompanying item of color; men: black trousers, with white or off-white guayabera, or other Latin American or Hispanic top-wear; 2: informal: vivid and multi-colored; ethnic.
Rehearsals: Wednesday (general/plenary), 7:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Mission Dolores School Auditorium, 3351 - 16th Street, San Francisco
