Basic Information

Description: This is an amateur (with high standards), community chorus, open to the general public.

Year Estab: 1965
Mission: To present music of quality at reasonable cost to the Bay Area community, principally in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Emphasis: 18th, 19th, 20th century classical music.
Size: 70-90
Concerts/Year: Six formal concerts (three sets) plus several Christmas caroling "gigs" in smaller groups over the holidays.
Auditions: Auditions required but solos are not part of chorus auditions; instead, small groups of singers vocalize together at the piano. Auditions are held at the end of rehearsals in the first few weeks of each new concert set: August-September,January, and March-April.
Dues: Monthly contributions, ranging from $10-$25, or members may volunteer for various tasks.
Dress: Women: full-length black dress to standard pattern; Men: black tux or suit, white shirt, black bow tie.
Rehearsals: Monday, 7:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., Hillside Community Church, 1422 Navellier (near Potrero), El Cerrito
