Basic Information
| Description: | This is a group of community singers SATB that range in age from 12 years to 80 years. The core group of 25-30 rehearse throughout the year on Tuesdays and Saturdays (four times a month) The repertoire includes Classical, musicals, contemporary, and choral masterworks. Most recently, Haydn Mass in D, Carmina Burana, and in the near future Dan Forrest Requiem for the Living. Other songs have included, Jai Ho from Slum Dog Millionaire, Garfunkel, Queen, Beatles, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen. Two trips are being planned for 2019. One to Paris, and the other to South India. The chorus is under advertised, and word of mouth has been the primary source of recruitment. |

| Mission: | Rockridge Chorale, founded by the director in 2003 brings the Joy of Choral Music and friendship to seniors who are confined to retirement homes, convalescent hospitals, nursing care facilities, and villages. The chorale has also raised funds for "Save the Children" St. Mary's, National Association for the Mentally Ill, for handicapped, Aids projects, etc. |
| Emphasis: | The emphasis is on building community within the ranks of the chorus, which then extends very naturally to the audiences we meet. Knowing the music well and engaging the audience with beautiful sound and rendition is a focus. Rehearsals are held regularly, and an expectation that members practice the music outside rehearsals is emphasized. Extra help, coaching, mp3s are provided. Social events and gatherings abound in this choir. |

| Concerts/Year: | 12-16 concerts in small venues. eg. 6-8 days 2 concerts a day 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm 1-2 concerts in large venues; 1 concert abroad, and 1 in NYC |
| Skills Required : | Must be able to stay on pitch. Reading music a plus. Solo voices welcomed. |
| Auditions: | "Getting to Know you" mtgs with the director are required, to determine range, quality of voice, and strength. Very informal and non-threatening. Sight reading not required. Staying on pitch is required |
| Dues: | $20.00 a month |
| Dress: | All Black with red scarves (provided) |
| Rehearsals: | We rehearse every other Tuesday 7-9 pm and Saturday 9-10 pt rehearsals 10-Noon full choir. This allows members who cannot attend on a week day to attend on the weekend. Music and when needed MP3s are provided. Part rehearsals, and other support available. |
