Mission: Chanticleer is a full-time professional a cappella vocal ensemble of twelve men, committed to elevating the standards of choral music by means of a unique sound utilizing the full range of the male voice, from countertenor to bass. It is Chanticleer's purpose to preserve and foster choral music, and to increase public awareness of and appreciation for this art form through performance, recording, commissioning of new music, educational outreach and publishing.
Emphasis: Chanticleer is dedicated to the exploration of the aesthetic possibilities inherent in this ensemble sound through the performance of a broad range of styles and periods of choral music, with emphasis on the music of the Renaissance and before, as well as classical and popular music of the 20th century and the commissioning of new works.

Auditions: Yes, by appointment. Auditions are held once each year, usually in late Spring, starting with a call for audition tapes and resumes. Call the office in January for more details.
