Other Information
History: | Viva la Musica was founded in 2001. Since then the choir has performed two seasons annually, giving concerts each spring and early December. In the summer of 2005, Viva la Musica participated in the Vermont International Summer Music Festival under the direction of Robert DeCormier. In 2006, the choir made its first overseas trip, to perform in Salzburg and Vienna, as part of the Mozart 250th birthday celebrations. Subsequently, Viva has performed at Carnegie Hall, New York, including under the baton of director Shulamit Hoffmann, and has performed in Prague and Dresden. Viva la Musica's wide-ranging repertoire includes classical works and ethnic world music. Masterworks the choirhas performed include Vivaldi Magnificat; Vivaldi Gloria; Handel Messiah; Pachelbel Magnificat; Buxtehude Magnificat; Charpentier Te Deum; Haydn "Kettle Drum " Mass; Pergolesi Stabat Mater; Mozart Magnificat; Mozart "Coronation " Mass; Mozart Requiem; Ariel Ramirez Misa Criolla; and Robert Ray Gospel Magnificat and much more. please see our website for a listing of major works performed. |
