Basic Information

Description: We're an a cappella men's chorus who sing in the barbershop style for the sheer pleasure of it, and to bring joy to the community through performances, outreach, and contests.

All rehearsals are open to the well-behaved public.

Mission: The preservation and encouragement of barbershop quartet singing.
Emphasis: The barbershop style; repertoire mostly Tin Pan Alley, but may include songs from more recent musicals, movies, and other sources.
Size: 30
Concerts/Year: 2 annual shows, plus numerous smaller public performances.
Skills Required : The ability to hear and sing a pitch is required.
Auditions: Yes, held at the Chapter meeting site upon intent to join the chorus. Auditions are mostly for voice evaluation and part placement. They consist of singing scales and perhaps a simple melody. The ability to hear and sing a pitch is required.
Dues: $190 per year
Dress: Formal (contest): white tuxedo jacket, black pants, blue tie and white shirt (leased to member); Casual (travel): chorus shirt (provided to member), khaki pants, black shoes.
Rehearsals: The chorus rehearses each Thursday evening from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Sunnyvale, 535 Old San Francisco Road, Sunnyvale.
